yes leaves, roots, an empty disgusting water bottle. elevating would help when they scartch the dirt and leaves but it has nothing to do with empty and green inside the bottle. scrub brush and hot water! FILL IT WITH FRESH water and elevate on a rock or bricks. this will help not only keep your water clean but keep your birds alive!

Too early to tell. The chick does seem to have similar markings like my Black Sex Link (RIR/Dominquie). Does it have a white dot on it's head?
