I ordered my chicks last February from McMurray and I think this is the 'free' chick they through in.

When it was young I thought it was one of my Black Stars. All of the rest of my black stars only have some brown/ reddish brown on their necks. This one is mixed all over.

Here are a some pics:

I have edited this on 6/29/09 to include some more pictures:

Some Comparisons with a "known" Easter Egger (the light brown one on the right is the 'known' EE):

I ordered x5 EE's from McMurray. x1 turned out to be a Roo. 3 out of the 5 have the ear muffs (terminology?) and 'bigger' necks (i.e. more feathers on their necks such as below:

2 out of 5 (not including the possible EE I'm trying to find out here) have the greenish legs, but do not have the ear muffs or puffy neck. They are also lighter in color such as the following:

I created a separate photo album with more EE and possible EE pics online here . If you click on the pictures they will give huge pics if you need a close up.

Thanks again for everyones help.

Hi ChooksChick:

You might be right. Looking at the pics she does seem to be developing a rose comb (here is a link to a BIG picture of that shows her head better ). I have some other EE's. I hadn't thought she was one. It seems like there is no 'normal' EE color (all of my EE's seem to be different colors!).

By the way, here is a pic of my EE Roo (I ordered 5 sexed pullets... I thought he was a pullet till he started crowing and trying to mate the hens). I think he's pretty (though I'm biased of course):

EEs do not generally have a rose comb; a pea comb is common as it is closely linked genetically with the blue egg gene..

The bird is question is a gold laced wyandotte.

Wyandottes are more circular in shape. I'm guessing Dark Cornish, even though she's not standing tall like most.

Interesting! I have an EE who looks just like that, but fuzzy cheeks where one would expect a beard and muffs. Now I know what is likely in her parentage...

I don't think it is a Wyandotte and except for the coloring I don't think it looks like a cornish at all. Since it does have dark legs I am gonna say EE but I wouldn't bet on it.
It looks like a mutt but of course we know hatcheries don't sell those.
