What kind of chicken is this??

[CO Chick!]

This chicken wandered onto my property and is apparently now part of our flock. We have no idea who it belongs to. We also don't know what breed it is, or even what gender. It is smaller than most of my hens and seems pretty submissive, so I think it's a she. But several people think it might be a bantam rooster. Thoughts?

He's definitely a rooster, and he looks like a silkie mix. He might also have some cochin or polish in him.

If I were to wager, I'd say Cochin is definitely in that fella's ancestry. Those foot feathers are nuts... That's why I would think Banty Cochin/Silkie cross.

I totally agree with @nightowl223 He looks like a bantam cochin/silkie cross cockerel to me too and he may have a bad case of scaley leg mites unless my eyes deceive me.... which is entirely possible!

I enlarged that leg, and still can't tell... it all depends on what those feathers are or are not hiding. If the red color I circled is his leg, yeah, I'd say scaly leg mites, since that leg should be black. If the area behind the blue is his leg, and the red is just some random thing on the ground, then it's an optical illusion.

I agree on the 5th toe. Yeah, the toes do look a bit rougher than they should, too, but I saw that area that I circled and if that's his leg, it's definitely bad with them.
