What kind of chicken is this?

Chickngurl you are right! She DOES have a longer neck than all the other chickens..in fact its one of the first things we noticed about her even as a day-old chick.

I got a response from mypetchicken, and they think she's a Silver Laced Wyandotte, but I can't find any photos of one with a solid color body and neck plumage like a Wyandotte. I'm really beginning to think she's a mix..maybe Wyandotte with Black Star.

I guess for now it will remain a mystery!

I found the exact coloring on an OEG. I agree with herechickchick. It is birchen but as far as the breed/breeds... I can't say.

Skatcatla, You won't believe this. I was reading a chicken magazine last night before I went to bed. I opened it up and low and behold I was looking at a picture of your chicken. It's a Cornish! They are suppose to be really nice chickens.

Cornish? No way, not with that neck and build. Cornish are short and stocky.

Well I think I have the mystery chicken! I agree, I can't find ANY breed that looks like my Gertie. I think she must be a cross. I emailed Mypetchicken asking if that could be the case but they haven't answered yet. With her super long neck, she could be part goose!

Not that it matters what breed she is as long as she lays some eggs for me! But it would be nice to know. ;-D
