So my Father said no to Bantoms so that means no silkies for me T.T but I can get a chicken still, our flock conist of a Mean big red Hen a Roo, A americuana mix(dont know how to spell it off the top of my head) 2 midsized hens and a little hen, Im looking for a sweet bird thats a good egg layer and great for shows, but one that can handle HOT summers and FREEZING winters, Got any breed Ideas?

Also If its not an egg layer my dad wont let me keep her

Trying to integrate chickens into an existing flock is hard enough and integrating one hen is even harder.
So you’re looking for a chicken that is both heat and cold hardy, is good for showing (like a poultry show or a 4-H fair?) and it must be a good egg layer.
Look into single comb or rose comb Leghorns, but if you get a pullet or a hen and she wasn’t soicialized and handled much she will be flighty.

Personally, I would go with a buff Orpington. They lay eggs almost every day and have a lot of feathers. I have one and her it gets to 90 degrees in the summer and -20 in the winter, and she’s fine. Although, I do have a heat lamp in the coop. They are the sweetest things and they’re like the puppies of the chicken world.
