What kind of chicks did I rescue??

I Dont know if i am breaking the rules but the image of the bird on the left in this thread posted in 2010. (I am sorry for borrowing your picture, but I am new here and didn't know how to message and ask it it was ok)
I know my chicks were clearly neglected, likely malnourished, and have very long beaks probably because they were kept in a small confinement to trample each others feathers off......but I would say this is a match? What do you all think?

I also ordered this today at y'alls recommendation. Has anyone used this..is it a good product? Do i need to do an additional wormer? What about garlic?
Thank you guys so much!

Looks pretty close, but it's hard to tell in this situation. To deworm these birds you can buy safeguard goat dewormer at the local Tractor supply. Using a 3 cc syringe you can give each chick 4 drops into the mouth. This is a messy method and some times I'll mix the dose in a small amount of well cooked scrambled egg and feed each chick their dose that way.

As for the lice, I'd wash each chick with flea shampoo for cats. Rinse very well and make sure the chicks are dry before releasing the bird. A more natural method is to apply with a sponge Listerine (the old fashioned amber type) and allow to soak for 15 minutes before rinsing. Make sure the chick is dry before releasing.

I avoid using dusty products for young birds as the dust can be breathed in and cause respiratory issues in already stressed birds .

Good luck with them!

We lost 5 of the 10 last weekend. Started the others on corid and everyone else is hanging in there.
Thanks for checking! :D

I know these had a rough start...but I have two questions:
1-This guy Is looking a roo to me..what do you think?
2-One of the chicks either had a splayed leg or twisted tibia...i started therapy before everyone got sick..but i feel like its too late now...I am still fixing curled toes...but...what is the long term outcome?

Not sure about gender, but a pet chicken can survive a crooked leg if the other leg is strong. However, quality of life suffers when there are two problem legs. Observe the bird and if it appears to be dealing well and is not getting harrassed by other members of the flock, I say give it a chance.

Good luck!

A little T.L.C. has gone a long way for these chicks! Check out these beautiful feathers!
