What kind of Cochin? **PICS ADDED**

Today I purchased a little 2 wk 3 day chick thinking she (I hope) is a silver-laced but after looking online, the silver laced, barred, mottled, and black Cochins look the same to me. How can I tell them apart? I wonder what I have.

Unless you post a picture then we wont be able to help you out. I will say that in SL, the chicks may have a little brown on their head. At 2 weeks wings should have developed already, and if it were Barred or Silver Laced you would see this color in the wings. If it is Mottled or Black, you will have to wait a couple more weeks and see what color it is when it begins to feather in a little more.

My guess would be black (splash maybe?? not sure) and Partridge.

Thank you for your reply. Does anyone else agree or disagree? I was hoping for black and white feathering. oh well... She is a Cochin so no matter what she looks like she will be a sweetie.

Your first pic looks very VERY similar to my Birchen Marans chicks. The white/black face and the peek of white wing feathers. I'm not an expert, but Birchen is my vote.
