what kind of dr. would you go to for this?

I don't think you could discourage me anymore than I already do to myself. so far I'm 3 for 3. At least your doctor had the foresight to tell you they'd be back, mine had no idea. do they ever become a problem for you? I wish I could leave mine alone and just write it off as ugly, but I get really upset at myself when I start dropping things like an idiot cause my hand's numb, that's usually when I make the call.

If you have a G.P. ask him for a recommendation. I would not go back to Dr. #1 simply because you do not feel comfortable there. As Woodmort suggested, this may be a recurring situation. Hope not!

I get them on my wrists and the back of my hands. The old fashioned approach is to bang them hard with a book. They burst, hurt for a few minutes, and yes, sometimes return. OTOH, I don't have any right now, except the one on my palm that I can't get at. I ignore it.

phaethona; I had the same thing, exactly, but on my right wrist. Had the surgery, six months later it was growing back so I had the surgery again this time with a different doctor. Six months later it was growing back with lots of scar tissue. Had it removed AGAIN and this time the Dr. took out a BIG chunk of tissue so that the scar tissue would have room to grow and not press on the nerve. I have nerve damage from all the surgeries and numbness on the top of my hand, but I'm not in constant pain. The last surgery was 27 years ago. I still drop stuff though...

phaethona,

In my spare time tonight, I'll do some checking and get back to you but there may be a much less intrusive way (and painless) to get rid of whatever these are. Bear with me until I get back to you. I'll PM you.

I used to have them both on my wrists and hurts like dickens! One day I got into an horse accident, concussion and a broken thumb, they found the cyst as they xrayed. So they put some steriods in both wrists and they were gone, stayed gone over since 1993.

I used to slam heavy books on it, it would hurt then quit, swelling goes down and a few weeks later they were back!

One time I took a hammer to it..........not a good idea!

those type of cysts have hair like roots and it is very hard to get them all. i would think especially hard since it is in between bones on your hand. sorry it keeps coming back..

Fortunately they are located such that they aren't a problem except when I'm in a bathing suit although I do, on occasion have some pain. I have enough problem with Dupuyitren's contracture I have enough problem with my hands so I can emphasis. That's another thing that can be operated on and it will return as well. I guess if you get old enough, you're bound to have some kinds of problems but it is better than the alternative.
