My Swedish forage all day long. They love the pond and will spend almost all day in there. They love to dive in the water and dart across the pond. Between all of the plants and moss in the pond, grass, gardens, and all the bugs they dig up they don't eat much food. I keep there feeder full but they are always eating out in the yard. They really only eat at night right before bed.
They don't really fly so getting away from predators would be hard but they could forage enough to keep them satisfied. I call mine my pigs with wings.
