If you keep them fat they won’t fly far. Our drake does vertical takeoffs up to two meters high but he does not fly far and immediately runs back to the fence trying to get back in with the rest of the flock.

Happened several times with my Indian Runners. They are able to flap out over the fence, but then they realize the rest of the flock isn't with them, panic and are unable to flap back inside.

The first time Mocha did that, he got this oh sh*t look on his face and ran as fast as he could back. I had to put him back in. Bandit has done the vertical takeoff once but did not go over the fence
