Hey all!
Don’t worry, I never put a hat on my quail. I applied some Blue Kote and that seems to be deterring the others. She’s enjoying a break! Also, I am planning on buying some fake plants to add to their enclosure. Currently is 16 sq feet for three quails and they have two square feet of grass that I replace every three days (I grow it at a local greenhouse co op). What fake plants are safe? I don’t want to give them one sprayed with chemicals or anything that might hurt them. Thanks!

I have used rigid plastic in the past. Quail would be unable to break off pieces and swallow it. Also, it cleans up fast. Low, bushy plants would give the quail a sense of security, but it would be harder to see them. You might even have a quail hen go broody.

Perfect! Will ones from Hobby Lobby and such work?

Yes, I would think so as long as they are hard plastic; be less expensive at Walmart. I would wash the plastics in case there are any residue oils on them. Don't buy the more realistic silk flowers; they fall apart easier and hard to keep looking nice. Parts of them might also be ingested by the birds and be harmful.
