I got this girl three years ago from McMurray Hatchery. She was supposed to be a purebred of some kind, but I can't find anything that looks like her. I know that I have at least one mixed breed in the bunch because I've been getting blue eggs from one. I thought I know who was laying the blue eggs, but do you think it could be her instead? She is black with small tints of orange in in her neck feathers. She has white earlobes and a pea comb and she has a slender and small build.

She's pretty unusual and doesn't fit any breed description I know of. The white earlobes are not often seen in a bird with a pea comb. Since you got her from a hatchery, she must be something specific, perhaps an olive egger or Easter egger. Or maybe some other layer strain they offer. I think it is quite possible she is the blue egg layer, since pea combs are associated with blue egg layers.

My friend has an Easter Egger with white earlobes and she has a pea comb.

What other bird did you think was laying blue eggs? McMurray only has 2 blue egg layers, Easter Eggers and Whiting true blues.

This is the hen I thought was my Easter Egger. I was told in a previous post that I made a long time ago that she was likely the Easter Egger. We weren't supposed to have one in the bunch we got. Easter Egger wasn't a possibility for the pack we got, but we got one.

This is a Silver Leghorn.

I just looked it up. I've never heard of a Silver Leghorn before today and I've been in the chicken business for seven years now. I guess I hadn't ever considered it before since it wasn't on the list of chickens that were possible for us to get, but you're right. She does look just like a Silver Leghorn. I guess Diana must be my Easter Egger.

From what I see, it looks like Silver Leghorns have yellow legs. I have one hen that has the same coloring, but she is smaller with blue earlobes, small comb and waddles and grey feet. Is she just some sort of messed up Silver Leghorn or is she a different breed? I would assume Leghorn, but I can't understand why a hatchery would give me all these messed up breeds that I shouldn't have. I ordered 16 hens and got 5 roosters in the bunch.
