what kind of incubater do you have? are you happy with it?

I asked that question when I first joined here and my reponses were filled with "hovabator's" mostly the 1588 model. So I got one! I LOVE it. THEY WERE RIGHT about it and it has given me a 100% hatch on one hatch and 50% on another (electricity went out or I would have gotten better) And then I had another good hatch (not 100 but very good!) I also have the auto turner and would NOT be caught without it!

I have a hovabator genesis 1588, and a new Little giant still air.

The Genesis is great - reasonably priced, forced air, preset temps but can be adjusted, holds humidity and returns to preset temp quickly after being opened, online instructions and support - easy to set up and clean - it has been highly recommended, and I love it.

The Little Giant - still air, difficult to set temps, its very sensitive (there are posts on BYC for making special handles for adjustments), also easy to set up and clean. Temps spike and drop easier than forced air, takes a long time to bring it back up to ready/temp after its opened, less stable than the Genesis. I only use it as a hatcher.

Hope this was what you wanted to know?

i have an lg and it has been good to me but im retiring it to a hatcher today and ordering a new 1588 genesis i finally came up with enough extra to get one which is difficult when u have 4 kids haahahaha:lol:

My last few hatches I have used a little giant that I purchased at a pawn shop for $15.oo with turner. works good but hard to control the temps. I just made a deal on a huge redwood incubator and love it. set the temp and forget it.

I have 2 LG's, one as a hatcher, one Genesis 1588 (love it), one r-com 20 (just got it, love it so far--it's full of Brabanter and Spitzhauben eggs so it better be good!) and 2 homemade styro-bators that are doing quite well--
hmm, DH thinks I have enough! he just doesn't understand:)

Just had our first hatch on a LG, with forced air and turner. Had a 5/8 hatch ratio on Ebay eggs, so I'm fairly pleased with it. On the LG, we basically ran it dry until day 18. Hope to someday maybe own one of the Genesis type. They sound amazing. It seems from what all I've read, the methods are more important than the incubator used, as it looks like all of the ones listed work quite well under the right circumstances.

For the price I like my little hovabator. I'm sure if I had plenty of excess cash I could get something better but for $40 and hatching no more than 2 dozen eggs at a time it works well.
