What kind of marans?

    ordered the rare maran mix from mypetchicken. chicks are now 5 weeks old. Any idea what kinds?? or even gender??[​IMG]

    Looks like the one on the right in the first picture is a splash. Its hard to make out the one on the left, but it's probably a splash too.

    if all their combs are small like the one in the last picture, than they are probably pullets

    That would be a black copper maran.
     
  7. black coppers aren't supposed to have that much brown them aren't they?

    some of my black copper chicks are 4 wks old and have that much copper already i think all of them with that much copper at that age must be roosters

    on my computer I could only see the white looking chick, but on my DH's computer I see the other one. That one is not a marans. My parents have black copper and blue copper marans and havent had any chicks look like that at any time in the chicks life. Can you get a better picture of it from the side?

    It doesn't look like BCM to me either. I was just looking at Meyers' catalog and noticed they have a marans in their collection called Golden Cuckoo. Maybe that's what yours is?
