have not eaten Ausies or Orpington, but they are both good sized birds, if you want a broody the Orpington is my first choice. I have 2 and they go broody several times a summer. have had Sussex and EE go broody, too. but the Orpington's are great mom's and will sit for ever.she sat for over 3 weeks and the eggs didn't hatch. I slipped fresh eggs under her and she is still faithfully sitting 1 more week and she should have chicks.
