What kind of paint inside the coop?

Here are some of my painted pens. I placed the roosts so they're not against any walls which helps a little with the chickens not doing their own "decorations."

However, some of the larger birds can still shoot poop onto the walls.

I painted the inside of ours and am happy I did. Cleaned and caulked and primed. Basically the same prep as any other job. Then I used an exterior latex semi gloss paint. Any light color helps to be able to see bugs etc. Our interior ended up being light yellow, that's what was at the box store in the mis-tinted section. $5/gallon, can't beat it!

can anyone tell me what the benefits are of paintying the inside of the coop, besides looking nice for a short while, til they poo on it??

I used low VOC and no VOC paint and primer in white semi gloss on mine. I think the benefit is that it seals the wood and is easier to wash, not that I've washed it yet. Springtime chore.

ok; well dh wasnt planning on "walling" up the coop..he was just putting up the plywood siding but no interior walls...hmmm...
he's gonna kill me if I tell him we have to do that..seriously..he wont do it...what did you put on the inside walls/errr..what did you use for the
inside walls? you cant use drywall...???

If you insulate (which by the way does NOT mean closing off your ventilation), you would HAVE to cover it with inside walls so the chickens don't eat the insulation. Most people use thin plywood (can be scrounged) or old '70s rec room panelling or that sort of thing, but anything reasonably rigid and peckproof works fine.

Even if you decide not to insulate and thus have exposed studs on the inside walls, it is still WAY worth painting. Just paint the studs too
