Hello, this is my first year of gardening. My sister planted these spicy peppers and they are doing very well, my question is what kind of peppers are they? They are long, and I’ve waited a couple of weeks because we picked our first one when it was this long and it was bitter. Are they not ripe yet? There’s an awful lot of them. Anyways I hope I find some answers...

Sorta look like cayenne peppers, but they are definitely longer than the cayenne peppers I've grown. You should be able to eat them green. No need to wait until the color changes.

They look like cayenne but there are so many pepper strains out there, so who knows. Personally I prefer to harvest peppers when ripe, especially spicy peppers. Not much flavor or heat when they are still green unless it's a jalapeño or Serrano or something.
