My buddy gave me this rooster any ideas on what kind it is

Is he a bantam or regular sized? Looks like a game bird to me and looks like he has leg mites.

Game Cock for sure. We have ALOT of those running around here Not sure if they get away or are just let loose People tend to think it's humane to let/dump their animals loose rather than turn them in They really don't realize it's a game of survival being turned loose. Lately been seeing egg laying breeds in neighborhoods too. The sad part is you see a hen with a bunch of chicks, then a few days later she's alone = mongoose, cats & dogs

Not sure on breed, would have to agree with above, but wanted to also agree with @drumstick diva. He looks like he has leg mites or some other leg issue you need to get fixed before he joins any flock.

Looks like a crossbred to me. Possibly a game cross, but looks to heavily built to be pure.
