This is my gorgeous little banty rooster. All of my other birds are large breeds and I have no idea about banty breeds. He is black, but has the most beautiful green throughout in the sun. What is this pretty boy? (don't tell him I called him pretty though...He thinks he's quite manly LOL).

Thanks SO much hdowden!!! Funny thing about him is that for months he didn't crow! I downloaded a rooster ringtone (at the suggestion of a BYC member) and would play it out of his sight and he would start crowing. I LOVE that sound!

Thanks Donrae. I actually got him at an auction back in April where roo's normally go for 2-3 dollars and are then turned into dinner

Well I just fell in love with him and paid $20, probably one of the most expensive roo's ever sold there LOL. People there thought I was crazy.

Does anyone know if there is a way to tell approximately how old he might be?

Well he looks worth it!
Can you poat a pic of his legs? Usually if their spurs are long and the legs look rouch and scaley( not leg mites) usually means he is older. But some people trime the spurs. But wyandottes, especially from a breeder mature slowly and have longer poduction life. Moat exhibitors do not even show their birds untill they are over 2 years.

He is deffinately beautiful. Suprising someone got rid of him.

So here are a couple pictures of his legs/spurs. It looks like he may have a case of mites

...either that or it's age. None of my other birds have this, but I know that the rest of my girls are young too. Any ideas???
