what kind of Rooster is this?

I was told this was supposed to be a Rhode Island Red but have read and im thinking its a Red Star. Can anybody else tell me?

I agree; a first generation Red Sex Link (Red Star) rooster would be primarily white with a smattering of reddish feathers in the saddle area.

X 2 - if this was a first generation RSL it's markings would be that of a pullet, which may be where your confusion is coming from if you were looking at photos for comparison.
