I own 16 buff orpington hens, and I want to breed them. However, I want to mix breeds. What is a good type of rooster to add in to make a nice 'mutt' breed?

I crossed a Rhode Island Red rooster over some Buff Orp hens and produced some really nice looking birds, both cockerels and pullets. Nice size and shape to them. Reminds me of New Hampshires with Buff Orp body shape and white legs.

How bout a White Leghorn roo, you'll get some buff sex links out of em. If thats the correct term. They will look sort of like golden comets.

I second that. I have abeautiful RIR/BO rooster.

If you breed a Barred Rock roo you can get chickens with white at the neck and the rest barred.

I also vote RIR roo! This cross makes beautiful dark gold to orange birds with black or green tails. The pullets will also be excellent layers.
