I attached a couple of options i found... its for my whole run.Probably not the play sand. But maybe a mix?
Its for my whole run, the options i have are up above im not looking to buy from home depot or lowes due to how expensive it is going to be i have a plywood floor bottom on my run because it otherwise was on concrete. My run is 12 by 6.Plenty of threads on sand here. Depends on what else you have going. Is the sand used as grit as well or just so they can take dust baths?
I use regular sand from Home Depot ($4 for 50lb) and mix some all purpose washed construction sand with it ($6).
If youre going to supply them with grit, then play sand is good. If the area is gravel and hard dirt, play sand. If youre using for grit purpose, then get something with a little more texture.
Why put wood over the concrete?i have a plywood floor bottom on my run because it otherwise was on concrete.
My husband buildt the coop raised as a run coop combo and because of how it was raised it was the best option for predtor reasons because we couldnt dig and put chicken wire down and around due to the concrete and because of how it was raised their was a big enough gap i didnt feel comfortable with cats or possums or squirels getting inWhy put wood over the concrete?
