So sorry he killed the purple martins, you did what needed to be done. Hope some other purple martins come to live in your p.m. house.

I am a "killer of last resort" kind of person.... but between the martins and my chickens, I felt like this guy was a little too ambitious. My dad just shook his head at me as I cried while chopping at the snake with the shovel (I wouldn't let him beat it to death because that was cruel).
It was a beautifully marked snake, but that big lump in its belly made him disgusting to me.

I did look up corn snakes online and he was listed as a "red rat snake, red cornsnake".


If I feel this horrible about a snake, I sure hope I never meet up with a mammal after my critters.

Yep, we have tons of them. Someone told me they wouldn't mess with chickens. As if swallows eggs and I'm 99% sure one had a lump that was a serama cockerel. I'm glad you at least understand beneficial/okay snakes. (I sure don't)
