What kind of SUV do you drive and would you recommend it?

We drive a beast, well actually two of them. We have an 01' diesel Excursion and an 05' V-10 Excursion. Hands down the best towing SUV's on the planet. If you pull big trailers, you have to have something big to pull them with. I would highly recommend it if you have a true need for a large one.

My mom has a Santa Fe, it's really nice, lots of pep! I actually used it to travel to a chicken show when I was not showing or selling alot of birds. Worked great for the 9 hour drive to and back home. My personal choice for the Polutry show trail is my F250 Superduty! Lots of room for birds going, and most importantly for the new ones coming home!

I drive a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, not a Grand Cherokee, but the no longer manufactured Cherokee.

It's great. I ordered it with the optional Up Country suspension and it has about 12" clearance; I've taken it around Mono Lake in the sand, and on old mining roads on mountainsides that are kind of crumbly on the edges. It is very narrow with a very short wheelbase; people are surprised to discover that overall it is shorter than many, if not most, small sedans. The short wheelbase means that every tiny bit of clearance is used to best effect.

I strongly recommend it; but good luck finding one since they were discontinued in 2001. The supposed "new and improved" replacement, the Liberty is considered awful off road and has about as much clearance as an early 1960s sedan - 8" or so and a longer wheelbase.

I drive a Dodge Caliber. It is good on gas, the price was under $20,000. I can fold down the seats and get up to 1,000 pounds of horse feed in it, LOL. It is comfortable for long trips and I can carry a lot of stuff in it. Mine is a 2007 and I paid $16,700 for it. I guess you could call it a small SUV. I had a 1987 Surburban at one time and it had tons of room with 3 rows of seats, it could carry 9 people. It all comes down to what purpose you will use it for.

I own a 98 CRV only owner and it has over 215,000 miles on it and still going strong. I have never had any problems with it. This is a LX no frills model but you know what it has more frills than any other model SUV in same range out there. I will be buying a new one next year. They get better gas milage than listed.

Honda Ridgeline

All the comforts and interior space of an SUV, with a short, wide bed on the back, that has a trunk under it. Powerful V6, superb for long or short trips. Can really haul a load, too. 4WD, I got about 20-21 mpg even in the city. The used ones are going for cheap right now, $16,000 on up. Consumer Reports rated it best mid-size truck in 2006. Super good safety ratings.

LOVED that set of wheels! All the comforts and safety features, all the working capacity? Can't be beat!

Chevy Trailblazer SS
DO NOT BUY ONE!!!!!

It has a 395 horsepower 6ltr LS2 engine.....same one as the corvette. Why anyone would stick a corvette engine in an SUV is beyond me! It does go very fast.....but at 15 MPG its really not worth the cost of the premium fuel that it requires. (I didn't buy it! lol DH did)

2001 v-10 Excursion and a 1997 F-250 4x4 crew cab. I love them. Hands down, they haul and fit just about everything.
