What kind of "table scraps" are ok to feed chicks?

Oh, I wonder the same thing about fish. Maybe it's just the bones they are worried about?

I fed mine the crumbly bones and slimy skin out of the canned salmon that I didn't want to include in our dinner about a week ago and they seemed to like it and no ill effects that I could see. The canned salmon is all cooked like a pressure cooker in the canning process so the bones and everything are not sharp but crumble if you smoosh them with your fingers so I don't worry about those bones.

My chickens' favorite treats are (and I started feeding them all this about 4 weeks of age):

-spinach leaves (their favorite)
-watermelon
-scrambled eggs
-corn on the cob
-plain yogurt with some Quaker oats mixed in and a little bit of their crumble sprinkled on top to encourage them

Today at WalMart I bought a wire corn on the cob holder (like a suet cage) meant for squirrels and but a fresh ear in it and hung it up. Not only did it keep the corn from getting all dirty in their litter, but it became a game for them. Like a chicken Pinata!!! OMG, they had such fun taking turns attacking it...

Flax seed does not turn the yolk black on the eggs from my hens, I sprinkle some flax seed on top of their oatmeal and mine also love tuna and salmon both great protein sources.

Flax seed adds to the omega 3 fatty acids and I add some to their mix of scratch grains.

Fish is a great source of protein. If I had a local source of fishmeal, I would be mixing my own feed but I can't get the protein up enough with grain and peas.

My chickens are serious predators of frogs here. Pretty much the same thing.

No, its because a heavy diet of fish can give the eggs and flesh a fishy flavor. You would have to feed them a fish-based food on a daily basis for this to happen. The casual use of fish in the diet won't harm anything. I doubt that bones are an issue, either, as they are used to pecking around inert material that they can't eat.
