Yep that is a "common" (around here anyway) box turtle. They can live forever or so it seems lol We always went and got the ones that my grandfather found in his garden so that he wouldnt kill them when we were children.

If she decides to sell it she should first check with her local laws. In some states it is illegal to sell native turtles.

It's a type of box turtle, but not sure of the exact species.

That is not any box turtle I am familiar with. The scutes for one show it may not be a box turtle species.

Is there any way to get pictures of the bottom shell, a picture from above, and perhaps front and back pictures?

That is a super interesting looking tortoise, if you were comfortable shipping I'd be tempted to buy it.

Totally far fetched, but by any chance does it have orange/red streaks on the side of it's head? How about it's feet, are the toes webbed?

Probably a very old one, considering how faded the coloring is. Lovely turtle species.

Can't take more pictures right now. It's my friend and she doen't have a way to get me pictures. I'll have to go over there. She said it came from washington state yes orange and red stripes. yes web feet brown with black specks on it, on the back of the feet a black and orange or red strip.
