Um... *somewhat nervously*... Baroque?

Okay, it's true, I'm one of very, very few sixteen-year-olds who likes Baroque music. For the record, I also like Classical and Romantic music, too, but not so much. These three groups are often just called 'Classical', which is wrong.

My favourite composers are Beethoven, Pachelbel, and Mozart. I really don't like Bach. I mean, he wrote some good stuff, but "Das wohltemperiert Klavier"? Seriously? I know why he did it, but two very thick books, each containing a prelude and a fugue for EVERY SINGLE KEY is just a bit too much...

I was raised on ABBA, so I play a lot of their stuff, and I also listen to a lot of Gilbert & Sullivan (catchy tunes, musicality not so good) and Andrew Lloyd Webber (but I can't stand Fantom of the Opera. Too repetitive). Is that a little redeaming?

Oh, um... I like hymns. They're predictable. I blame Dulcie Holland for that (she wrote music theory textbooks. Her idea of how to write a perfect tune generally turns out a hymn). And I like folk music, and Renaissance music. I play a lot of Bush Dance and Ceilidh music (you know, dance music; jigs, reels, hornpipes... not so much the strathspeys though).

I guess my taste in music has a lot to do with the fact that I've been playing piano since I was five. I also play violin, flute, and tenor recorder.

So... yeah. Um.

from Rachel.
