What made these tracks?

Exactly. Whatever bird made it is one that hops instead of walks.

And if we want to go out on a limb ( <— bird pun) ... there is a better than average chance that this little hopping bird was the ubiquitous dark eyed junco.

I think mice. We have them here outside. They hop, I call them kangaroo mice though I think they're called something else, meadow mice? Really small also.

We have mice tracks, and they usually have a distinct line in between legs (from the tail)

That’s what I was thinking, I have seen some that are super tiny. Like cotton balls with tails lol.
