OMG, Sorted Foods just did an episode on Japanese kitchen gadgets. I want this! Too bad it's so expensive, and I don't really need it. It made me happy to know that something like this exists.

Could you use an aebleskiver pan? Very similar concept, much smaller and cheaper?

Those are basically takoyaki pans. I have a small one, but I haven't mastered the skill of turning the takoyaki. I guess I just need to practice more.
