My little blind hen laid her first egg of the year! She's 8 years old this year and still lays quite frequently.

Cool! How old is the Godson? The Godson actually decided to take responsibility for something. Yesterday when he was over taking 2.5 hours to do a 45 minute task (feed and water the quail), I rescued a male who was getting bullied. I was going to cull him since I didn't want to put him by himself to heal (he was scalped) and the Godson asked if he could take care of him.
I cleared it with his mom, set him up with a cage and what he'd need, and we'll see if he takes care of the bird. If he isn't taking care of him I take him back in a week and the bird gets a dinner invitation. If he is taking care of him, I'll find him another docile male to keep the current one company.
He bought shavings to keep the cage clean, got him a box to hide in, and I'll check on him and the bird tomorrow. This will be the first time this man has taken responsibility for any living creature in his life. There have been a couple guinea pigs that he really liked, but he didn't do any of the care for them. Elio the Bucky Noodle is entirely the Godson's responsibility. I hope all goes well!
24. He's done pretty much nothing but sit on the couch for most of his life. It takes a lot of patience and willingness to work with how he thinks to find ways to do things that work for him, and his mom was just too swamped with earning the money to support the family. I've been working with him for almost a year now, and he is very, very slowly starting to grow up.Cool! How old is the Godson?

He's autistic, so he needs serious 1/1 time to teach, but perfectly capable of learning and being functional.
Convincing him that life on the couch living in fantasy land can't last forever and that he needs to learn to take care of himself has been a very difficult task, but it's finally starting to sink in.
He's learning to use lists to keep track of things he needs to do, but every bit is an uphill battle. He also took his first Uber ride yesterday, so he can get places on his own if he has to now.
