what makes a red sex-link chicken

I don't know about the Light Sussex hen, but when I run the Cross Calculator with a Speckled Sussex roo over a Delaware hen, I get a Black Pattern Yellow-Gold Columbian Barred roo. The resulting hen is Black Patterned Red Columbian. Since the Delaware has the sex linked barred gene, the roo has a barred tail. Definitely a red sex link but not necessarily a white roo results. I'm hoping to hatch some of these this year so I'm interested in how close theory comes to actual.

Yeah, the difference is prolly the fact that the Delaware color is dilluted barred and the Lt. Sussex is columbian. I don't know for sure if the roos feather out white but most prolly white with red leakage in the pyle zone/black tailed. Remember the chicken calculator doesn't show leakage in its calculations. I guess I should have said the female chicks down is red and the roos down is white at hatch.

I have tried to read through this thread and get my answer..but I am not sure.

I have a Plymouth Barred Rock roo.. and two production red pullets(I am not sure of the exact breed...been told RIR or production red)..but they were purchased at a Tractor Supply and began laying ant 19 weeks. Would the offspring between the PBR roo and these females be sex linked?

They would all be barred and not a sex-link.

Am I correct in thinking you talking about the White Leghorn, and not the Leghorn in general?

Yep I got in a hurry and just wrote leghorns.

Female silver duckwing leghorns or male gold duckwing would not be my choices to use in a red sex linked cross. Both would be ok as the male in a black sex linked cross.
