What makes me so Gorgeous?

I have a mommy hen, what breed or breeds she might be I do not know. That's my question

She had one baby of her own and hatched another hen's baby. I don't know the possible roosters involved as they came to me as foster hens.

Her own baby seems to be feathering out very slowly and I am holding out that the chick is a pullet. If I had a breed idea I might be able to make myself feel better knowing it might be breed that feathers out slowly. Chicks are 4 1/2 weeks old.

Wow interesting color combined with that type. definitely not going to be easy to guess the breeds involved. Very very likely she is at least two generations of mixed color/breed mixing. Only obvious things are one of the breeds involved was a barred bird as she has barring. Could be barred rock, black sex link, wyandotte(thinking this because of the body type) maybe buff orp from couple generations ago.


The lighter chick on left is a male- it's showing the dark red roo feathers coming out. Other one is a pullet.

Couldn't the chick just be more colored like it's dad w/o being "dad" colors

I can't have a roo. . . .

I was thinking Mom has some Wyandotte in her as well. She is a big lady.

If the momma didn't have yellow legs I would guess Golden Cuckoo Marans. Maybe she has some in her. The coloring reminds me of a Basque rooster. Maybe some of that in her too.

oh yeah didn't think of golden cuckoos. could be part of the mix too. yeah yellow legs is part of what makes it so interesting and hard to guess what's in her! along being so big and having barring.

Her body structure reminds me of that of a Brahma or Plymouth Rock.

Well she does resemble the Basque and the Golden Cuckoo in ways and thanks for introducing me to the Basques (awesome bird).

It's her body that throws me off.
