What might these crosses give?

Ah, that explains a lot. Had I known that , I would not have used North American standards to criticize him. They do not apply. He is a lovely Australian cock.
Yes, to anyone not knowing, there are two different standards of beauty , completely acceptable within the breed itself, between the two continents.
Mr. Peter Smith's book on the Sussex in the Doyens of Poultry series is an excellent treatise on the Australian type.

Sagey, I am going to delete all the parts of my previous posts having to do with critiquing your rooster. I don't want folk to think he is faulty since I didn't know he was Australian.

I think I got them all . Let me know if there is anything else to delete. I had to send requests to the moderators so may take some time before they take them down.
Best,
Karen

Yeah thanks, and just a thought, you should never criticise anyone’s chickens unless they ask you too.

Another thought.
I notice the mods were on this thread and it wasn't moved. Also noticed this forum has more threads about crosses and genetics in general then other topics and they're not being moved either.
Seems this forum isn't just for purists and elite breeders as one poster believes or hoped.
Maybe ease up on hitting people over the head continuasly with your beliefs and views on who's welcome in this forum and maybe try to help or just pass by those type of threads if you don't have any interest in contributing anything positive.

Honestly Sagey,
It's a genetics and breeding forum. I don't think analysis is out of order. Especially when the poster seems to be asking for it as the title of this thread implied.
How can one know "what will come of the crosses " if one does not know what the cock has to contribute? So an analysis of the cock doesn't seem out of place here. Helpful analysis is not the same as dissing a bird.
Honestly, the more specific the question, the more precise the answer. If one had only wished color info, then perhaps a mention of that in the original post might have been helpful.

Moonshiner,
I did help Sagey with lit and BYC expert refs on color. This particular forum was originally created because BYC folk wanted a place to discuss serious genetics and breeding to the Standard. A place where elite veteran breeders would feel comfortable coming to discuss serious issues with interested Bycers and folk who needed serious help with breeding projects. The availability of access to veteran elite breeders is a special thing and some of them were tired of being asked novice question as they endeavoured
to help other breeders on other BYC forums.
So BYC was kind enough to create this Genetics and Breeding to SOP forum.
Over the months, general discussion has bled into this forum with general Genetics questions. These folks get the help they need. However, the OP should not be surprised if the answers seem more extensive or blunt then they are used on the General Breed Discussions forum.
Folk on this G & BTTSOP forum will look for the how's and why's behind the questions and try to help.
It's regrettable that folk posting on this forum feel that the extensive help offered to them in honest , forthright fashion is somehow rude or objectionable. Is the first help always perfect? Perhaps not , but this forum will continue to help in serious ways to find the help the OP asked for.
That is why this serious forum was created.
Best Regards,
Karen
