My year old Tom suddenly developed this swelling on his wattle. It doesn't seem to interfere with his appetite and he drinks. He puffs up and runs around the yard. It does interfere with his gobble. It sounds as though he's going through puberty when he gobbles. What could be wrong with him? I've searched Google, but I can't find anything remotely similar. Thank you.

That does not look good at all. If it was a little lower I might suspect an air sac problem which is typically cured by lancing.

Does it go down when he is relaxed? If it does go down then I would not worry about it. But if it is constantly swollen then what it could be is not good. I have seen photos of that type of swelling that have been attributed to a snake bite. It could be due to a poisonous sting by a bee or wasp or in a worst case scenario it could be due to avian influenza.

Good luck.
