Crowing
I hatched out what was supposed to be Rhode Island Reds and a mix of RIR + Silver Laced Wyandotte. (And a happy accident of sex link + Golden Laced Wyandotte that I did not plan for.
) Another rooster, a sex link (A RIR + SLW from last year) found that I forgot to latch the gate, and mated with the RIR and the SLW around April 19th or 20th.
I put the eggs from April 22nd, 23rd, and 24th in the incubator. The other two chicks looked like they were either RIR or the sex link, but this one... does this look like a male sex link, or did my sex-link mess things up? What confuses me is, it doesn't look like a chipmunk, and there is no classic Wyandotte black strike across the eye - and he's yellow.
Any idea what he is? I have photos of the parents below as well. (I've been calling him a he, but I don't know if he is actually a male or not.
)
This is supposed to be the father:
This is Patriot, the boy who got out and may have messed things up:
These are the mothers (the Golden Laced Wyandotte has chicks as well but I marked those and know the chick in question is not hers):
Just for comparison... this chick is a sex link male from last year. As you can see, chipmunk coloring, strike across the eye, and not yellow:
I'm so confused, but whatever he is, I love him anyway.
