what nutrient does my goose need to turn her legs orange again?

I’ve always wondered this same thing. I wondered if it wasn’t an activity level - circulation thing. My geese go back to normal orange coloration after a while because every winter I am amazed by the contrast against the snowy ground. I hadn’t considered it was possibly nutritional.

Usually the pigments in corn can bring that back. I think marigold powder also does too. I don't know that it's a specific vitamin or anything, I think it's just because they use up the pigment stored in their bodies during egg production in the yolks and such. It just takes time for them to store it back up.

It could be lack of circulation + vitamin deficiencies. All of my girls turn gostly white in the legs after brooding. You can piper them on a vitamin mix, maybe add meal worms, soldier fly larva, or dry cat food to boost protein.
