What on earth would a teacher do with a picture of a student?

Of course she would! I can tell from your posts you're an awesome, intelligent, mature kid! She probably considers you a rare jewel compared to a lot of teenagers out there!

Before anyone thinks I'm bashing teenagers, I'm not! I have a 14 yo DD and I know how moody and tempermental they can be. Some are just plain mean! Especially if you have one that is quiet or shy.

Thanks... don't know. I mean, I definitely know that I am kind of mature because I can't stand how awfully immature my classmates are sometimes. But with this teacher, it's all different. I say the dumbest things! One day, I was really frustrated with myself, so I told my friend that if I failed another test, I'd hit myself over the head with my Literature book (which, by the way, is a good 1,300 pages.) This teacher is my English teacher, so she knows how much it weighs. She was walking right in front of us. I saw her raise an eyebrow in my direction like, "Oh, honey, that's a really bad idea!" I know I said it just because she was right there. I think I wanted her attention. I don't know. I do really want to be friends with her because she seems like such a nice woman. Anyway, she didn't say anything. And another day, I started randomly stuttering in the middle of asking her a question about adverbs or something. I felt like a complete idiot. I never stutter. (Well, okay, only if I'm like super nervous.) And another time, I started babbling about incoherent nonsense when I was trying to explain that I felt I was not making any since in the story I was writing. She just shrugged it off and kindly explained that it was perfectly alright and that I was overanalyzing it. Please don't say I sound like I have a crush on her and I'm totally in love with her even though I'm a girl. Already been accused of that...I don't think it's anything of that nature. Still, I do find it odd that I'm such a bafoon when I try talking to her.

No, not at all. They call them "girl crushes" now, but that's silly. Makes it sound like it's something else, you know? It sounds to me like you really like this teacher (as a person!) and you are just nervous about saying something stupid around her, and you stutter. There's nothing wrong with that. It also sounds like this teacher understands and is encouraging you to be yourself and is genuinely interested in what you have to say.

Maybe you are just so nervous because she is an adult that is treating you like an adult, rather than a "stupid kid". KWIM? Trust me, it's ok to act silly once in a while. Even to...GASP...act your age!

It's not going to make her think you are immature or stupid. Try to relax. Adults act silly and have a hard time trying to express themselves, too. As you get more comfortable with your new friends, and you start to figure out who you are, you'll be able to be more relaxed around her.

i think your teacher wants a pic so she can remember what awesomeness personified looks like forever. probably hoping her kiddo is half as humble, half as wonderful, and half as nice as you are.... if she's lucky

Yeah, I do get pretty nervous around her. I like her a lot. I guess it's just because she cares about her students. For whatever reason, I've got it in my mind that I want to be friends with her. Really? I've been wondering about that. You think she's noticed that I get nervous and shy around her, and she's trying to fix it?

Yes! Exactly. I can't stand it. We have several teachers that treat us like stupid kids. I really like being treated like a normal human being.

The other thing I've come to figure out is that I think part of the reason I'm nervous around her is because she's pregnant. Is that weird? Some people think I'm totally obsessed with her. (Including people on here.)

Aw, thanks. But before you say that, you might have to see me at home with my mom. That can get nasty sometimes...I'll admit, I need to work on my getting-along-with-mom skills. I bet little Blue's going to be great. I know he'll be considering she's raising him. She's going to be a great mom.

Yeah. I know. Still, it won't hurt for me to work on that. Mrs. W thinks I'm really, sweet, though. She told my mom I was a joy to have in class while I was standing right there. I am pretty sure I turned four or five shades of red at once.

Maybe I should send my daughters your way to learn more about manners and lady ness?

Not according to my mother. She tells me I'm the most selfish kid in the world. Yeah....um, I'm pretty sure I need to do some major fixing.
