We bought a light Brahma chicken and today we noticed that it’s feathers are almost a pinky color and it has an extra toe on each foot! Will it be okay?? We also noticed it has a head tic. Like it twitches. Is that normal?? I think the other chickens have been pecking at its foot feathers. How do I get them to stop?

What a pretty baby. 🥰 It must have a 5 toed ancestor in its genetics, probably Silkie.

Our 8 week old bantams twitch their heads when we talk to them so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I'm not sure on stopping the others from pecking at this ones foot feathers. Maybe ask on the forum to do with Chicken Behaviours, or even the Raising Baby Chicks. Hopefully someone has come across this before. Are the other chicks being really rough or is it just pure curiosity? Hopefully once they realise it isn't food they'll find something more interesting to peck at.

Could it possibly be a salmon faverolle?
That’s what someone else said too! I don’t know, maybe?? The feed store we got them from has been giving me a bad run. Our first set of chicks we got from them were sexed and we ended up with four males. We know we can’t keep that many males so we got six more chicks to replace the four that we are losing and now I might have gotten the wrong breed 😢 luckily they said this breed is nice, so that’s a plus.

I’ll check for sure. I don’t want it getting picked on. It’s weird too because we have two silkies and their leg feathers are doing just fine.

Faverolles are supposed to be super sweet so I'm sure you'll love her. That's rough about ending up with so many boys first time around.

Maybe it's because she's got proper feathers on her feet/legs, and not just Silkie fairy fluff that's attracting so much attention.
