What's a Spooner? Chickens don't really graze, they can't digest grass like a cow or goat.

What we see is the chickens are eating our grass and clovers. I read that that offsets their grain requirement by 20% or so while improving their health and egg yoke color?

Yes chickens can digest fresh green grass. An untreated lawn is a good source for food and fresh vitamins.
