I'm thinking of getting more quail for their eggs and wondering which quail are best for egg laying like the biggest eggs and how many they lay and how big are California quail eggs supposed to be because my California quail aren't laying eggs yet

Valley quail don't lay a lot of eggs and only for a short season their eggs will be about 1/5th the size of a chicken egg. Coturnix are really the only quail that are going to lay edible sized eggs year around. Most coturnix hens can lay 250-300 eggs a year without lighting (with lighting you can pretty much expect an egg a day from your coturnix). Bobwhites will only lay 100 or so without lighting (can be pushed to 200+ eggs a year with lighting). Valley quail will lay even less and I've never heard of anyone lighting them so I couldn't say what the potential with light is.

Texas A&M are actually just white corturnix quail bred to be a large, white meat bird. For egg production coturnix are the best. They will lay an egg pretty much everyday so long as they get about 14 hours of light. The eggs are decent sized, especially so if you get your stock from a reputable breeder of large birds such as James Marie's large class.
