What quail???

Just get an assortment...it's so much easier.

My tibetians are in a cage with browns and mabchurians so I can't do that. Ever since I lost a lot of my browns I have been mixing them.

Mixing won't do anything, it will just give you tuxedoes, and possibly manchurians with some white on them in your offspring.

Would Scaled quail be OK to buy?

They are hard to find, and hard to keep alive without a lot of research/experience.

If I did a LOT of research, could I get some?

You really need to get bobwhites, coturnix, and buttons down first. Then I would move on to Gambles, Valley, and then TBSQ or mountain quail.
