Its soooo hard to tell with silkies, I grew out 80 of my crosses and 50 leghorns and sold most of em, I keep(of course) my 15 , And I get 15 eggs a day everrrry day, its way too many because I dont sell em, but I should start, Ive been giving a dozen away to people when they buy a trio of pullets from me, I used to hatch SLW,GLW,JG,and WR but people really love the Red crosses and leghorn up here in ct for the eggs, IM SOOOO impatient with chickens, after I got the chicks I HAD to get some POL girls for eggs, Its torture waiting isnt it? Anywho were getting pummeled with rain here ;( the girls are mad, my rabbits are loving the cool weather, I brought my preg doe inside for a little on the bed she ate her carrots an then decided to left my arm up and chill under it lol, then climbed on my stomach and sprawled out on me with her head under my neck and slept for a few, (spoiled girl)

Tell me about it. I had a silkie that was sort of a mix (single comb instead of the normal silkie comb, no leg feathering) and was told she was a roo...until she laid an egg! I guess thats the sucky part about raising silkies - but I'm getting into the lavender because no one really has that color around here. I had these guys shipped from PA back in April. I'm hoping to breed with my lavender split and get lavender chicks. I also have a splash and black hen. Right now I have my lavender (I love that color, can ya tell? LOL) orpington sitting on 4 silkie eggs and I have 4 in the bator.

I have 4 regular size hens - two orps and two barred rocks. I get 4 a day from them, 28 a week and that alone is more than enough for my family! LOL I end up scrambling 1-2 dozen a week and giving it back to them. They love it but are becoming quite spoiled with coming up to my doors and windows begging for food.

I did the same thing. It's a lot of fun. I've never had new borns before and before I knew it I was taking and labeling daily fotos.

I forgot who said it, maybe BunnyLady?, that my dark kit could be a chestnut if it had an orangy tint between the ears on the neck? Think you're right, I see orange today! Also has two orange spots right above its eyes.

the black one is my runt they are now lil over 24 hrs old an I checked them this am an she had fed them. They were lil butter balls. But the blk one is so much smaller. Kinda got me scared a lil.

this is Hannah my mommy bunny. An she has been a super mommy so far. She is enjoying her breakfast. She is my bunny that stays in my house at all times.

Aww, what little pudgies! The little black one is probably just a runt. The size difference isn't so significant that I would be too worried, but still keep an eye on him

One of the techniques I've used with a really skinny runt is taking the doe and laying her on her back on my lap, then putting the runt on her to nurse for a bit. It's much easier with someone to help you. Once the tummy is looking pudgy, put them both back.
I would only do it once a day, usually in the early morning.
