I've had several bucks that lived that long; a couple that were at least 12 when they died. Because of issues with the reproductive organs, unaltered does tend not to live as long, though I have had several of them that lived to at least 8. Not many rabbits of either sex are fertile past the age of 5 or so, so that means a long "retirement" for a special rabbit.

A new pic of our mini rex buck, Potter. He's so cute!

So, all of our other four rabbits are does, and we are finding having a buck to be quite a different experience! If we let our girls out of their play yards, they immediately run into a huge ginger plant and start digging, or try to escape into our neighbors yard. When we let Potter out, he runs around us in circles, chases us like a dog, pees on everything (including us if he can), but never goes more than a few feet away from us. And if we walk away he follows us. Is this a buck thing, or is he just a funny bunny? He cracks me up chasing my kids!

aw how cute! congrats! And yeah my buck is definately a lot friendlier than the doe I had and i am still shocked that every time i walk past his enclose he comes running to see me! I sure am glad though that he doesn't pee on everything XD

Our does are all super sweet, and they run up to see us. It's just when they have the freedom of no pen, they're really hard to catch. Potter is attached like a puppy, so funny! And the peeing I could do without, but it's hard not to laugh when he does a binky while running by and squirting. All three kids were running from him screaming "flying pee"!

Hes adorable!

I had a buck that peed when we got him. Ew. But was so funny! Then after a few weeks and settling in (making sure he had marked ALL his territory and human pets too :gig) he stopped spraying.
He will occasionally try and hit another buck (across room!) When its not his turn to service does :lau but that's rare now thank goodness.

Do any of you guys raise dutch rabbits? I'm thinking of raising them because I love there black and white coats and think they would make pretty good profit
i have a buck. but if your going to show. culling is VERY heavy. i reccomend a amazing breeder with an out standing back ground. get an ARBA rabbit standerd book that is up to date and study the dutch DQ and show markings. this is a very tricky breed if you have bad breeders.
