I don't know about your area, but here in NW Arkansas they are among the most popular breed of rabbit for pets. If I were to select a pet breed, it would be mini rex.

Wow, awesome. I live in California, it seems like everyone here wants something unique and new. I wonder if mini rex would be unique enough.
I just bred my Mini Lop to my American Fuzzy Lop today. My Lionhead does are still holding out on my Lionhead bucks so I had to breed something. I love lops and they are quite popular, I think I will be able to find them all good homes.

Question about ear tattooing. Do you have to look up a number to see if it is taken before you tattoo your rabbit?
I read that two rabbits cant have the same tattoo if they are in the same class. I know it would be extremely rare to find another rabbit in the same class with the same tattoo as mine, but I just want to make sure.

I don't know, I suppose "unique" depends on one's point of view. If you go to a show around here, it seems like everybody and their best friend has Holland Lops - there will be more of them at the show than any other breed, guaranteed. But at the National Convention, for several years there were more Mini Rex entered than anything else. Popularity does seem to vary, depending on where you live. Lionheads are everywhere here, too.

There is no way to look up an ear number, so you just have to hope nobody uses the same system as you do for numbering.

I've never thought about or heard of that, but I suspect it could be a problem, especially of the two rabbits look similar. Most of my rabbits were tattooed before I bought them.(I only chose two of them) Each of my breeders has a different system. One just uses numbers (dont know what they mean), the other would use the first three letters of the rabbits original name, there was one who tattoos her initials first, then the name if the rabbit (if its a short name), another uses a letter and numbers (dont know what they mean), and another rabbit was bought with the tattoo number,"E". I'm not kidding, it was just the letter E. lol. these are just some examples of different systems. There are many and it is very rare to find similar ear numbers. You don't even have to use numbers at all! It could be letters, or even a word. I knew someone with a rabbit whose ear read: "thump" This rabbit kept on thumping while at the judges table!

That's very cute, now I have to think of something clever to put on my girl's ear.

There aren't too many Mini Rex breeders where I live. There are a TON of Holland Lop breeders though.
I want a small breed. Holland Lops are "taken" and Netherland Dwarfs are "taken". Any good ideas?

Polish maybe? There aren't too many colors, and they can be hard to breed, but they are small and cute. Have you ever thought of Havanas? Or how about Mini Satins?

I thought about Polish, I don't like the colors too much, but if I could get my hands on some I would.
I like the Mini Satin! Of course I can't find a single breeder in my state...lol
What do you think of Jersey Woolys? Too hard to take care of?

I was checking a rabbit's vent today to see if she is ready to breed, when I pushed on the vent I saw little, whitish bumps around the outer side of her vent.
She has only had one litter, not with me, and the kit died. I have unsuccessfully tried to breed her.
It doesn't look like vents disease because her vent isn't all that red and the bumps don't look pussy.
Is it normal for a rabbit to have some bumps down there?
