I just dressed my Angora/Mini Rex up in a doggy sweater. She was giving me the death stare! But it was so cute!!! :)

I dressed my evil Mini Rex in a grape costume a few years ago. His death scare send a shiver through my soul. I was lucky enough to catch it on camera too! I'll upload the pic tomorrow.

Woolies! Your babies are adorable!

You asked where the Siamese Sable came from. . . .

One of the greatest shortcomings of a pedigree is that it only shows you the direct ancestors; you have no idea what their siblings may have looked like. Years ago, I got some Woolies from Helen McKie. All of her rabbits had the legendary "Mughead" in their background. If I remember correctly, Mughead was a REW from a line of Chocolates. The rabbits themselves weren't chocolates, but I had chocolate varieties popping up all over the place when I started breeding those buns (one of the most gorgeous was a Cinnamon [Chocolate Agouti] that I named Kodiak).

Also, I once owned a Sable Point Marten Netherland Dwarf that came out of a straight Chestnut line. The breeder didn't even know what to call it, because he'd never seen such a color! It was just "one of those things," a situation where a bunch of recessives had been carried unseen for several generations and all came together in one rabbit.

With your rabbits: a Siamese Sable is the result of a rabbit getting a shaded gene from one parent, and either a Himi or REW gene from the other. Shaded, Himi, and REW are all recessive to the full color gene that is being expressed in a Black or Chocolate. Obviously, one of the parents is carrying a Shaded gene (Cchl) and the other has either a Himi or REW. Based on my experience, I'd suspect the Chocolate had a REW, but that may or may not be the case.
