We definately had 20 kits born to two mamas last week. We lost two of them to the cold (they got out of the nest boxes) and one of them mama rejected and removed deliberately from the nest as it had some sort of lump on it's face and was clearly unwell. We also have one tiny runt we're not sure will make it and we think mama might be rejecting it too in favor of the dozens of larger, stronger kits. I will say this, she has very strong instincts!

We weren't expecting to get two litters of 8+ kits each. Normally when we breed the bunnies two at a time it's so if one has a crazy litter we can balance them out to around 8 kits each... But what to do when one has 11 and the other one nine? XP

If anyone needs some nice NZW's in Ohio we have 'em! XD

Yikes.. I'm new to bunnies, but 1st thought is it looks like cancer/tumor. May want to take it to the vet and make sure it isn't something viral that could pass to the other buns.

Looks like an abscess to me. They can be caused by tooth issues of all sorts or pasturella or more rarely some other things. Have you been keeping up with your rabbits tooth care? Lots of rough forage and wood to chew on? If not Id guess tooth abscess. Only a vet can tell you if it is a dental issue, a viral issue like pasturella, cancer or something else... But you can try to make an educated guess and go from there.

Offhand, no idea, but I would imagine something that large is going to need the attention of a veterinarian. I would, anyways.

One of my Florida White bucks, Lucky, demonstrates the bunny puddle. He just loves having his face petted and will lie there motionless, eyes closed and mouth chewing. Until I freak him out by sticking a camera in his face, of course.

He's the sweetest rabbit I've ever had, and I've gone through a lot of them.



I gotta know, ChocolateMouse. What kind of snake do you have?

Bitterroot; He's a little Ball Python; not even a year old yet. :3 Nothing too fancy, but probably the calmest snake I have EVER owned or handled. I'd LOVE to have a Rainbow Boa some day and a pied ball too. Now THOSE snakes are real lookers!

My mini lop that passed on recently would bunny puddle at every opportunity. She would literally sit for HOURS.

Best reptile pet ever, IMO.

So sorry to hear about your ML. Bunny puddles are just the sweetest things in the world. You haven't loved rabbits until you've had one melt like that for you.

That's just the thing. These belong to a custumer of mine. Me personally don't have rabbits I have chickens. He has several that have it then some that don't. He just asked my opinion. The one that have these lumps are caged. The ones that rome free in the yard don't have it.
