Rabbits do not have to be registered, but they can't become Grand Champions unless they are registered. In order for a rabbit to become registered, it must be at least 6 months old (for smaller breeds), have a complete 3-generation pedigree, and be free of DQ's. To register a rabbit, you need to contact an ARBA registrar; there is a small fee for doing this. Every judge is a registrar, but not every registrar is a judge.( There is a list of registrars on the ARBA website.) You may be able to arrange for a registrar to come to your rabbitry if you have a lot of rabbits to register, but if you just have a few, most people find it easier to just take the rabbits to a show. The ARBA requires that any club sponsoring a show also have at least one person there whose job it is just to register rabbits, so there will be an opportunity at any show.
