I have two does from the same litter that were raised together for many months. They displayed some dominance type behaviors when they were in the original cage together. Nothing violent. When the weather got below triple digits, I moved them outdoors into separate cages side by side. I placed them in a run for exercise and one immediately started going after the other. I separated them from the pen and gave them the whole back yard which is quite large. There was fur flying immediately. They went at each other like fighting kangaroos. I've never seen anything like it. It didn't take long for them having their own cages before they decided they didn't want to share ANY space together. I now give each bunny a separate day of the week for their "backyard time". The interesting thing is that they spend some time under the other's cage. I've given up trying to figure them out.

Thanks They are all separated into their own cages now. I was at vet getting flea meds for my dog and I ask him about it and he sent me home with a antibiotic to give her. Theses are such small rabbits it never crossed my mind they would fight like that.

I assume this is a topical antibiotic? As most people who read this thread know, you have to be very careful about giving antibiotics to rabbits. Even something that goes on the outside of the rabbit will wind up on the inside when the animal licks and grooms itself, so even topicals should be used sparingly.

@K Epp
. I noticed your location says "Northern Georgia". I don't guess you happened to be in Dalton last weekend for the show?

Im in Blue Ridge. I went to a poultry show yesterday. I didn't know there was a rabbit show. Although I doubt there's enough benadryl in the State of Georgia for me to go to a rabbit show. Yes, a raise rabbits on a very small scale and I'm allergic to them. I didn't realize they were what I was allergic to until I got them on a larger scale. I've down sized and only have 3 Lionhead and 2 Netherland Dwarf.

So I should discontinue the antibiotic? I just ask and he said to give it to her. Its pills I grind up and put in her water. I only did it once I'll stop at once.

A rabbit's digestive system has a very large "blind" pouch called a cecum. In a healthy rabbit, it is cram-packed with beneficial bacteria, and a good part of the digestive process occurs there. Unfortunately, antibiotics don't discriminate, and the "good" bacteria in the gut can get killed off, which can result in chronic diarrhea. There are times when antibiotics are necessary, but the benefit should always be weighed against the risk.

Some folks may tell you that rabbits are hypo-allergenic, but as you know, this is not the case. I suspect that the reason that cat and dog allergies seem more common is simply because they are more common pets. I know a number of rabbit breeders that are actually allergic to rabbits. Someone mentioned Rusty Westhoff, a rabbit judge - he's allergic. I can remember being at a show many years ago, when he was judging Harlequins, or something. Suddenly, he stopped what he was doing, stepped back from the table, inhaled deeply, and started scanning around the showroom. Suddenly he pointed across the room and exclaimed, "Ah ha! Angoras! I knew it!" For some reason, the longhairs are a much worse trigger than the others.

Ok, my herd buck produces Split Penis' and some of his offspring have revived that gene.
Should I sell him as just pet or cull him? I'm really attached to this buck, but I know I can't keep breeding from him

I'm able to control my allergy with Claritin. I completely stopped the antibiotic.

Here are the new little lionheads. All the white have red eyes. Some have color points coming in and the cream with darker points is really pretty.
