Don't think I've asked this before here, but my memory isn't always the best so forgive me if I have. My oldest rabbit is about 6 1/2 years old now, and he started to get a runny eye back in the summer. It's just a milky fluids that leaks out of one eye sometimes. Now I've heard this is normal in older rabbits (something to do with pressure of tooth growth against the tear duct?) but I was just wondering if anyone else has experience with this. Is there a way to reduce the leakage? It's not bad now, but I worry it will get worse in the next few years.

Leaky eye, or pink eye is not something you should worry about, but its also not something you should leave to clear itself up. It will need animal antibiotics just like a human would if they had an eye infection. Check at your local farm supply store or if your Veterinarian sells products check there for antibiotic ointment THAT IS FOR THE EYE. Do not use a product that is just topical because that means it will hurt the animal to ingest it or to get it in its eye.

I had a rabbit get pink eye and got an ointment from me Vet but I cant remember the name. I'll try to look later and get back to you...

Thanks for the info. I'll have to ask and look around next time I'm at TSC.

My friends old rabbit used to suffer from terrible eye issues and I believe this is the medication she used. I was trying to remember the name, and now I know. I'll have to ask her where she got it from. Thanks!

UGH! I'm so mad at myself!! There was a deadline for show entries for the show I'll be attending this Saturday... and I missed it. So I can still go, but each show entry will cost $1.50 more. Ok I'm calming down now... lol
