Yes they are actually Beverens but not "normal". They are fuzzy b/c they are from Britian and the British have mixed Angora with them to improve the breed. I never intended to buy a Beveren just a doe for my CA buck and I told the breeder I had a French Angora and wanted to one day learn to spin. He said he had something to show me and there was these real matted up buns he did not want to deal with. So I agreed to take them and cleaned them up. Then I started noticing they looked alot like my Angora. This week I have been researching(their pedigree) and emailing and found out about the "fuzzy" Beverens. I may be able to spin their wool and may try breeding with my Angora. I need to learn to spin!! I only knit on the looms. Their personality is great, but they hate the grooming,! So now I need to scale down on my chickens and rabbits to have some time. I learned too well on BYC how to incubate and I'm done raising chicks for atleast a year I hope!

Angora wool is nice! I saw some things made out of it at an ARBA show and it was really soft. You can dye it and everything. Seems fun to work with. I wonder if I can do that with my Fuzzy Lop's fur.

Hadn't seen this thread and I love my babies. I lost several does a coupleof months ago. I bought 3 Chinchilla mixes at auction and they were very thin. I put some weigh on them, and then finally got them outdoors. Woke up one morning and they were all 3 dead. Over a 3 week period the does I had nearby all died. The new ones were quarentined, but I'm sure they had something that wiped out my girls, since the ones I lost were the closest to those 3.

I don't have pics of all of them but here are some of my Lionheads to start with.

Wascal

Blackie (she was named when I got her)

Aphrodite

This was after babie BTW

Charmer

Eclipes

Oh and I have a pic of my grand daughter's pet, Edward

Adorable Lionheads! :)

I have a question....I'm positive now that my Polish doe killed and ate some of her babies. :( I've read that if they do it once, they'll likely do it from then on....is this true?

I do not think so. There are several reasons why she would have done this:
1. She rejected her babies
2. She knew they would not survive (most likely the reason)
3. She was too young and did not know how to the care of them.
This could happen again, or it could not. It depends on the rabbit. Sometimes they just need a little bit of experience.

I mostly agree with this, but I do know someone who has a gorgeous doe, who kills her kits. She always makes sure she has 1 or 2 more does bred at the same time so she can split them up to foster moms. That being said, it's probably one of the 3 reasons mentioned by shadow rabbit10.
